In line with the Current Public
Service Act No. 8 of 2002 and a circular letter number C/CB.49/177/01A/46
dated 13TH January, 2003,. The Tanzania Public Service College
has been given the mandate to run The Public Service Examinations
which were formally run by the Public Service Commission.
1 EXAMINATION CENTRES:-
Below are the examinations centres set to suit
convenience of candidates in regards to their workstations:
i Dar es Salaam Centre: Comprising candidates
from Coast, Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, Lindi and Mtwara regions.
ii Moshi Centre: Comprising candidates from Arusha,
Manyara, Kilimanjaro and Tanga regions.
iii Tabora Centre: Comprising candidates from
Dodoma, Singida, Kigoma and Tabora regions.
iv Mwanza Centre: Comprising candidates from
Kagera, Shinyanga, Mwanza and Mara regions.
v Mbeya Centre: Comprising candidates from Ruvuma,
Iringa, Mbeya and Rukwa regions.
vi Zanzibar Centre: Comprising candidates from
Pemba and Zanzibar
2 EXAMINATION DATES
The Tanzania Public Service College conducts
these examinations twice a year, i.e. end of May and end of
November.
3 EXAMINATIONS
The following are the currently approved examinations
as authenticated by circular letter CB.45/99/01/68 of 10th
August 2004:
i. Kiswahili Kigumu
ii Kiswahili Chepesi
iii. Higher Standard Government Accounting
iv. Higher Standard Stores Management
v. Higher Immigration Law
vi. Lower Immigration Law
vii. Qualifying Law for Administrative Officers
viii. Senior Court Clerks
ix. Chief Clerks of Courts
x. Judiciary Law
xi. Proficiency Examination for Human Resources Officers
xii. Higher Records Management
xiii. Auditors Qualifying Examination
xiv. Higher Standard Telephone Operators
xv. Lower Standard Telephone Operators
4 CONDITIONS FOR EXAMINATION REGISTRATIONS:
i. Public servants intending to sit for any of
the above named examinations should submit their dully completed
application forms together with an appropriate fee of Tshs.
10,000 for attempting the whole examination and Tshs. 5,000
for subject/subjects referred.
ii. The application forms can be obtained from
offices of the Regional Administrative Secretaries (RAS) or
from the Tanzania Public Service College Offices – Magogoni
Street – DSM.
iii. No candidate will be allowed to sit for
these examinations unless he/she can provide proof that he/she
has attended review courses at TPSC or any other training
institutions acceptable for the purpose.
iv. Applications received after the closing date
of registration will not be accepted.
5 EXAMINATION REGULATIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES
i. Candidates must follow all instructions given
by invigilators:
ii. Examinations will be done on days and dates
indicated in the timetable, and all examinations will be done
on days and time as shown.
iii. Candidates are supposed to be in their examination
rooms at least half an hour before starting of examination.
iv. It is prohibited for candidates to enter
the examination room half an hour late after starting time,
and as well candidates are not allowed to go out of the examination
room before half an hour has elapsed from the commencement
of the paper.
v It is prohibited for candidates to enter the
examination room with pieces of papers, books, handouts and
other unauthorized materials except those allowed by the College.
Candidates of Judiciary Laws and Immigration Law will be allowed
to enter the examination rooms with clean copies of law books
only. Exercise books, notes and any other written materials
of laws are not allowed.
vi. Candidates will sit in the examination room
according to their examination numbers.
vii. It is prohibited for candidates to talk
or communicate in anyway among themselves during the examination.
A candidate should raise his/her hand when wishing to communicate
with the invigilator.
viii. Every candidate is supposed to write his/her
examination number on every page of the examination’s
answer book. It is crime for a candidate to write an examination
number of his/her fellow candidate and such a candidate will
be seen to be deceiving and his/her examination will be cancelled.
ix. Every candidate is required to answer questions
with clarity using the appropriate language and should use
ink pen or ball pen blue or black.
x. Candidates should stop writing immediately
after the order of the invigilator.
xi. Smoking and mobile phones are strictly prohibited
in the examination rooms.
xii. A candidate who will be proven to lie/be
delusive in doing examination his/her paper will be cancelled
and his/her employer will be notified accordingly.
xiii. It is prohibited to take out of the examination
room an examination paper before the time for doing the paper
is over.
6 REVIEW PROGRAMMES
The Tanzania Public Service College conducts
review programmes in two major forms namely:

6.1 Intensive Review Programmes
The Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC) conducts
a three-week intensive review programme for all of the above
listed examinations for candidates who are aspiring to sit
for the Public Service Examinations. The centres for the training
are Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and Tanga. The Tuition fee for
the programmes is 330,000/ payable to the college before commencement
of training.
6.2 Part time Review Programmes
The Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC)
conducts six-week part time review programmes for all of the
above listed examinations for candidates who are aspiring
to sit for the Public Service Examinations. The centres for
the training are Dar es Salaam and Tabora. The Tuition fee
for the programmes is 330,000/ payable to the college before
commencement of training
